YIVO's administrative offices are open Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. On Fridays, the administrative offices close at 4:00 p.m.

YIVO's reading room is open to researchers:
Monday-Thursday  9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
The reading room remains open on Monday evenings until 7:30 p.m., but no YIVO staff is on duty and the YIVO collections are not accessible.
To consult materials in Archives special collections (Music, Sound, Photographic, Film, Art & Artifacts), please call for an appointment in advance.

Researchers are encouraged to reserve a Microfilm reader/printer in advance by calling  (917) 606-8217.

Research Rules


All materials (books, periodicals, microforms, manuscripts, photographs, etc.) must be used at the Center and may not be borrowed. There is no charge for consulting library and archival materials. Photocopy services are available, though some restrictions apply. (For more information, see "How to Receive Permission to Reproduce Materials from the Library & Archives" on the Library & Archives page.
